With just a partial transient midday shade of a small wild papyrus field to shield her from the sun, a pregnant woman carries fire wood to her home near Kutunguru, Uganda.
That remains the enduring memory of a brief transit through Kutunguru, a sub-county of about 4,500 located 18.2 km south of the equator and just south of the Kazinga Channel, which links Lake George with Lake Edward. (And is home to lots of hippos.)
It lies entirely within the boundaries of Queen Elizabeth National Park, which sits about 380 km (238 mi), by road, west of the capital Kampala.

Thanks, glad you like them. There wasn’t much I could do in processing other than some very minor tweaking with highlights. Midday on the equator means lots of challenging light, conditions I didn’t have and still don’t have very much experience with.
