Photogenic, no? Does anyone know what kind of dragonfly this is? (NB: It’s since been identified as a Slaty Skimmer. Many thanks, all!)
I was reminded that this post about a visit to the Wahkeena Nature Preserve in southeast Ohio, which sparked a brief reflection on native Americans, was published one year ago, so I just felt compelled to share. Much obliged if you could take a few minutes to give it a read.

Very nice close-up, Bob. Excellent details. That looks like a Slaty Skimmer dragonfly, according to iNaturalist. You can confirm it by uploading your image to iNat.
Thanks! I did that and it didn’t appear for me immediately. But a few users have since identified it as a Slaty Skimmer, too.
It helps to identify fast if the image has the GPS coordinates. Glad you got it.
