I updated my Hooded Crow gallery over the weekend to include several shots taken during a visit to Torun, Poland early last spring, like the one above, and a few from a visit last week to the Strunjan Nature Reserve in Slovenia. I managed to catch a few more with their nictating membrane in action – that’s a transparent membrane found underneath the eyelid in most birds that protects the eye from wind, dust and impacts of flight while maintaining vision. One is below.
