More specifically, in Nice’s central Massena Square as part of the annual Christmas Village and Market. Before the season sneaks away and before I forget to post a few (as I did for each of our first three Christmases here), here are a few images taken earlier this evening.
The Ferris Wheel is 50 meters high and takes about eight minutes to go full circle. It dominates the square each December which is why it’s largely the dominant theme in these photos. The wheel is a temporary structure; the others, part of the installation Conversations á Nice by Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa, are permanent, installed in 2007. The piece consists of seven figures seated 12 meters above the square. The colors of the lights remain the same throughout the year (although they change regularly), giving a square a year-round festive flair.
Here are some shots from last year.

I’m adding these to the Lens-Artists Challenge #377 offerings on the theme of Holiday Fun, hosted by Leya. Thanks for having me.

What a beautiful gallery, Bob! That ferris wheel is a wonder.
Great photos, great ferris wheel, interesting sculptures! 👏
The Plensa sculptures are a wonderful touch in the square.
Fun indeed Bob – interesting that most of it is year-round!
Great set of shots Bob
I enjoyed seeing Massena square again, this time through your lens
Love these Bob! The combo ferris wheel and sculptures is a great idea. I know them from our visit to the festival in January, February. Great!
