This pair of immature Wood Ducks spotted at the Wahkeena Nature Reserve in Sugar Grove, Ohio, have the honor of kicking off my Wood Duck (Aix sponsa) Gallery. They look thrilled, don’t they?
The vertical line in its cheek indicates a male.
