This is the view looking down on the elliptical pearly white and blood red staircase at the Hotel Bristol Palace in Genoa. As the headline suggests, it did inspire scenes in Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Vertigo’, who was a guest at the hotel in 1925 when the then-unknown filmmaker was working on his first film, ‘The Pleasure Garden’.
