21 Photos From the Saturday Market in Arles

Visited on Saturday, 18 October; colorful, vast and busy as advertised, a great way to end a week in the Camargue. We left with a big bag of greens, large chunks of chevre and brebis cheeses, a bag of fougasse, and a bottle of honey vinegar. (And a seafood paella for lunch.)

The cheese selection was particularly beautiful to look at but I expected to see more organic produce. Indeed, there appeared to be considerably less certified bio produce than is regularly on offer at the Liberation market in Nice. The array of spices was pleasant for its colors and aromas – and for their display. I don’t recall see heaping baskets of spices at a market in Provence, giving these stall a bit of a north African touch.

And finally, lunch to go for two.

Good to see you again, Bob. Our blogs lost touch years ago. We were in Arles in the Spring, and also enjoyed the market. We had a leisurely holiday around France and Spain by train for a month.

Indeed! Nice to hear from you. Blogging took a backseat to many other things for a while, until I finally decided to carve out some time and get back on track here. ????
