Crested Caracara (Caracara plancus) in Argentine Patagonia.
This first set was taken on 26 February, 2013, in Puyuhuapi, Chile, during what was on certain levels my most memorable birding experience. Sitting on the shore for hours watching the water, birds, and the interaction between the two.
This next set was taken on 11 February, 2013, along the Fitz Roy Trail near El Chalten, Argentina. Technically these aren’t great – they were taken from a distance and the midday light was a bit on the harsh side. That didn’t make crossing paths with this beautiful beast on the ground any less of a thrill.
And one more, taken on 3 February, 2013, at the Laguna Nimez Reserve in El Chalten.
