A few shots from the Brasserie Le Gambetta, an institution in the Liberation neighbourhood’s De Gaulle Plaza that celebrated its 100th anniversary two years ago and on this morning satisfied a pasta craving I’ve been carrying all week. Le Gambetta is mostly about seafood and oysters and we enjoyed both in equal measure. And on this Saturday had Nina Simone and Bob Dylan for company.
I don’t do reviews here so in short: terrific tasty traditional dishes, great service and reasonably priced. Its central location in the busy Liberation Market area makes it a busy hub – we arrived at about 12:15 on this Saturday and managed to get a table for two, but it did fill fast. Reservations are recommended.
About the oysters: We selected the Bouzigues N°2 for no particular reason; they were nutty and luscious drizzled with the simple vinegar onion sauce. Raised in the Étang de Thau near Montpelier.

And, on the first story’s dining room walls, so fun musical portraits and words. I didn’t get the artist’s name, but it was nice to sit across from Nina Simone.
